The asteroid Dactyl, discovered in 1993, has a radius of only about 700 m and a mass of about 3.6 X 1012 kg. Use the results of Example 12.5 (Section 12.3) to calculate the escape speed for an object at the surface of Dactyl. Could a person reach this speed just by walking? |
