(a) 1x10^(-3) m3 of He at normal conditions ( p0 = 1 bar, T0 = 0°C) is heated to a final temperature of 500 K. What is the entropy change for (i) an isobaric and (ii) an isochoric process? Use CP He = 21 J/(mol K) and CV He = 12.7/(mol K). (b) Calculate the change in entropy dS1 for 1 kg of water being heated from 0 to 50°C. Compare this change in entropy dS2 for 0.5 kg of water at 0°C being mixed with 0.5 kg of water at a temperature of 100°C. Use CV H2O = 4.13x10^3 J/(kg K).

Solution:
(a) 1x10^(-3) m3 of He at normal conditions ( p0 = 1 bar, T0 = 0°C) is heat
